I advise you to stay away from this product AT ALL COST!!! I had high hopes that this DVR would be the trick. However, I was soon to realize it is like all the other DVR’s-Full of Bugs. I got it set up and tried taping to the hard drive. I got a System Error that i could not get rid of. I contacted tech support. They had not even heard of the error number that I got. I returned it to the store the next day.

I purchased the Sylvania HDRV200F 3-in-1 DVD/VCR Combo with 160 GB Digital recorder from Discounts Online, Inc through Amazon for a birthday present and was somewhat disappointed that I had to return it for several reasons. I was, however, very pleased with the professionalism and speed that Discounts Online corrected the problems.

I have now (finally) given a great gift that is very appreciated and greatly enjoyed. I’m told that every thing works now as it should and it is used constantly for recording television shows and watching both DVD videos and VHS VCR tapes.

Thanks Amazon for the connection to Discounts Online who I will continually recommend to any one looking for electronics at a great price!

I’m very happy with this unit. Great picture quality, easy to use, good remote, speedy, quiet, lots of hard drive space.

Here is the biggest flaw I have found: The thumbnails of the recordings play from the very beginning of the recording, so most likely what you see is the end of the previous show or a commercial, unless you start your recording exactly when the show you want starts. This product would be better if the thumbnail started about 3 minutes into the recording, so you could recognize the show. Other DVRs do this. Fortunately you still have the title, date, time and channel to know which recording you want to select for viewing.

Still I’m quite pleased and think this is one of the best options out there.

I bought this unit to replace a failed VCR. It sounded like it had some great features, 80 gig hard drive built-in, DVD to tape transfers, etc. It does. The only problem is the only ones I could find were refurbished. And it was defective, most likely never even tested. I waited until after our vacation to set it up. Big mistake. Turns out the clock does not work, making it useless except as a player. And the reseller has a 30 day return policy, so I just threw away $145 on a piece of junk!

This refurbished DVD/VCR has worked quite well and gives a lot of flexibility for viewing different media. The 160GB hard drive is a great way to record without the degredation in the media, over time, as you have with VCR tapes. The added benefit of better resolution makes viewing a pleasure. So far, the system has been fairly easy to use.
