Normally I would never buy anything from Harman Kardon. But this DVD player was on sale for $ 100. 00 from $ 300. 00. Well, I guess you get what you pay for. Setting up the player, and I put my first DVD in it. I knew I was in trouble when I hearding a whimper, grinding. This was too amusing. What was even less amusing was the beautiful blank TV screen. I tried another DVD to make sure that it is not a problem with the DVD. I have the same wailing and gnashing of blank TV screen. It was not worth mailing back, either time or money. I went down to the local Best Buy and bought myself a nice Sony DVD player. She has been working great. I'm waiting for my HK DVD player to take out and re-adopt the scene from "Office Space" where the guys beat the crap out of the printer.

This player is a typical HK. . . Quality. Great picture and function, size and style. Only con would be no HDMI output, composite output, but still works well

I had my DVD-22 for 2 years and my DVD-27 for one year. Both have amazing pictures and I've never had an unusual problem. It seems to me that the cranks do not dismiss these players a lot of experience with quirky DVD technology have. Most stand-alone players have at home, any number of "scales" with various films, as opposed to DVD devices in computers. Perhaps that's where the misconception is that people who have never problems with their computers, so they think the same applies also for their own players. Not so. You should experiment with burning movies with different speeds or with different software, for that is probably the cause of the problem. These players read without a freeze better than any DVD player I have worked, although it put a rare problem in a loop must be unplugged. Every player seems to have its particular nature, that is the HK's whim, not a big problem. The image quality, reliability in general, and audio DACs are worth leaving the Standard-$ 50 – $ 60 to import.

I was just looking for a player under $ 150. 00 as a replacement. What a pleasant surprise has turned out to be. Great reproduction of sound and video. It is not HD, but is the best non-HD picture I've ever seen. The sound quality is awesome, HK has a great product line. I cannot wait to see what they do with SuperHD or Blu-ray too. Well, if HK could only figure out how to make a great remote control?
